Catalogue Design – Asian Paints

Asian Paints started in 1942 and has grown a lot since then. For over 50 years, they have remained the premier paint company, establishing themselves as the market leader in 1967.

Their diverse product range includes paints for residential and commercial applications, wall coverings, waterproofing, adhesives, and comprehensive services. Asian Paints is dedicated to enhancing the aesthetics of houses and also provides a line of specialty products for kitchens and bathrooms.

Challenge:

We designed the Asian Paints color guide catalog for the Rong Bangla Edition 2018 to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Bengali style. The catalog’s colors reflect the spirit of Bengali celebration and tell a thousand tales of cultural richness. It invites readers on a discovery voyage to explore the history of craft, culture, and cuisine hidden beneath each shade, providing inspiration for transforming their homes.

Solution:

Our objective was to design an elegant and beautiful color catalog. We used separators to highlight the products, which were designed with a collage of pictures from Bengal’s cultural heritage and Bengali colors. The separators were carefully crafted to complement the narrative of each section, and their style and color were chosen to match the accompanying pages.

Research:

Before starting the process, we emphasized the importance of understanding the client’s needs. To create a unique strategy for our catalog, we analyzed recent designs and conducted thorough research to determine the catalog’s true purpose. We developed a plan based on our findings, created a list of essential details, and proceeded to design the catalog.

Strategy:

 We appreciate the team at Pixorange collaborating with us on the Rong Bangla Project. All those that contributed to the development of the book, strategic planning, and beautiful photography & visualization include @Prasad Shetty @Siddhant Nanaware @Rajdeep Sardesai.

Our branding strategy aimed to enhance the catalog’s appeal while maintaining focus on the products. We combined typography design with Bengal-inspired images to create a visually striking look. Each separator was carefully crafted to reflect the colors offered in the chapter below, drawing inspiration from Bengal’s food, travel, and craft stories to add a storytelling element. We used hues and imagery based on Bengal’s colors to create a unique and memorable experience, highlighting the range of colors available and making it a distinctive feature of the catalog.

Outcome:

For the book, we provided visual/graphic design services. Our multilingual approach, stunning designs, and content-driven strategy allowed us to create a top-notch color guide catalog that won Asian Paints as a long-term client. We used carefully selected colors and design elements to perfectly illustrate their brand and create a distinctive look and feel. Eye-catching graphics were used in each layout to highlight important information and make the catalog easy to read and understand. The page layout was designed with subtle charm, providing readers with a memorable experience.
