Brand identity – Solanki’s Solos

The challenge:

The Challenge was to create a unique brand identity keeping the legacy of the brand consistent. Solos have its root in Kolhapur, where the tale of flavours began. Earlier, it was known as Solanki’s Ice Cream. And now, it has come all the way to Pune to spread a smile by serving Pune with best-in-class ice creams with unique flavours.

As a new startup with different branding for the business, the client required a totally new brand identity. They required a design that could be playful and trendy without sacrificing legacy values.

HIS approach:

1. Research:

The initial stage was to get to know each other. So, We conducted a deep analysis and had to complete understanding of the client’s business. The client had some unique ice cream flavours which are literally bang on to try on. So creating a unique brand identity needed a lot of research. They had a requirement for a smile in the logo.

2. Strategy:

The brand was serving ice cream as its main product. Our aim was to build a fun and distinct visual style . A unique illustration brand expression was acclaimed for capturing the stories of flavours and the high quality of Solos Ice Cream in original illustrations, extending the popularity of the brand’s in-store experience to the shelf display experience.     

3. Design Process:

The Logo of the brand was designed in a fun way where a smiling face is been portrayed. The tagline of the brand is placed in such a way that it depicts a wide smile which the customers give the brand as feedback when they try amazing and unique flavours served by solos.

For the space design and packaging, we had some crazy ideas. We planned to do some creative illustrations for the brand and portray the journey of the brand. From Solanki’s to Solos we tried to reflect the legacy of Solanki’s ice cream through illustrations. These illustrations were further also applied on packaging.
